Thumbay Dental Hospital, the largest private academic dental hospital in the Middle East located at Thumbay Medicity, Ajman celebrated its first anniversary on 13th April 2019. Prof. Hossam Hamdy, the Chancellor of Gulf Medical University was the chief guest of the event held at the hospital. On the occasion of the first anniversary, the hospital also launched CBCT (Cone Beam Computerized Tomography), an advanced dental imaging modality used to create three dimensional images for accurate diagnostics and treatment planning.
Thumbay Dental Hospital, with its cutting-edge technology and team of experienced doctors has risen to the forefront of dental hospitals in the region, within a year of its inception. Staffed by an efficient team of caregivers from multiple nationalities, the hospital provides personalized care according to the needs of individual patients.
An important aspect that differentiates Thumbay Dental Hospital is that it is an academic hospital, part of the Gulf Medical University Academic Health System (GMUAHS), the first private academic health system in the Middle East region. Being an academic hospital, the doctors here are also academicians with extensive knowledge, keeping up-to-date with the latest technology and knowledge of research breakthroughs in dentistry. The hospital also trains the students of the undergraduate and proposed post-graduate courses of the College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University (GMU).
The hospital offers services and treatments in General Dentistry, Endodontics, Paedodontics, Periodontics, Invisalign, Veneers & Lumineers, Dentures, Crowns and Bridges, Simple & Complicated Extractions and Hollywood Smile. Specialized services also include Implants, Orthodontics, Lasers & Endodontic Microscopes, Cosmetic Dentistry, treatment for facial pain, complicated Oral Surgeries and Sleep Apnea. The latest addition to the hospital’s advanced facilities, the CBCT 3D Dental Imaging was officially inaugurated by the chief guest of the first anniversary celebrations, Prof. Hossam Hamdy. CBCT uses advanced X-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. This technology produces 3-D images of teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone in a single scan. It is useful in dental implantology, oral surgical procedures, cosmetic surgeries, endodontic and periodontics. The major advantage of CBCT is that it enables scanning the bone and the soft tissues at the same time. The procedure is comfortable and painless to the patient. With ever increasing applications and advances, CBCT is the imaging modality that dentistry will be heavily relying on in the future.
Future strategic directions of the hospital include plans to introduce stem cell treatment for dental diseases, for which an advanced ‘Dental Stem Cell Bank’ for harvesting/banking dental stem cells is planned at the hospital.
Commenting on the occasion of the hospital’s first anniversary, Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Vice President of Thumbay Group’s healthcare division said, “We are pleased that Thumbay Dental Hospital has already etched its place in the region’s healthcare map, with the highest quality dental services.
