Ajman: Thumbay Dental Hospital, the largest academic dental hospital in the Middle East region operated by the Thumbay Group, has partnered with the College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University, to expand dental care services, as well as provide academic teaching and advanced clinical training for post-graduate students in the Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontics and Master of Dental Surgery in Endodontics, and residency programmes. As a part of the partnership, a new wing of the Thumbay Dental Hospital was inaugurated at the Thumbay University Hospital in the Thumbay Medicity, Al Jurf, Ajman on 13th March 2023. The dental center was inaugurated by Professor Hossam Hamdy, chancellor of Gulf Medical University, in the presence of Professor Hesham Marei, Dean, College of Dentistry, GMU accompanied by faculty from different dental specialties.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Professor Hossam Hamdy said, “We are thrilled to announce a new milestone in the training of our students at Thumbay Medicity. As a member of the Gulf Medical University Academic Health System (GMUAHS), we are proud to introduce our state-of-the-art dental center. This facility serves as a clinical training hub for students enrolled in post-graduate and residency programs, providing them with practical, hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced dental practitioners and professors. Furthermore, the addition of the new dental center not only signifies the expansion of Gulf Medical University’s courses and programs portfolio but also highlights our commitment to enhancing the quality of healthcare services available in the UAE. Graduates of these courses will be given priority for employment, across the numerous clinics and hospitals of the group. Finally, our aim is to provide the community with top-notch dental care and align with the best international practices in the field.
In addition, Prof. Hesham Marei, Dean, College of Dentistry, stated that, “The new dental clinic established at Thumbay Medicity is a significant value-addition to the academic hospitals in the region, providing better-quality training to dental students. As the university embarks on facilitating more post graduate and residency programs, the students will be utilizing the state-of-the-art facilities under the supervision of faculty members to offer a high quality service for patients with complex dental conditions. We are confident that the new dental center will enable us to serve the community with greater proficiency, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to provide exceptional training and education to our students, while also improving the overall health and wellness of the community.”
